“Man Art” - March exhibition at the Smithers Art Gallery
02/28/2012 - 03/31/2012
When men work at their trade we may forget the creative value of this commitment. The Smithers Art Gallery is providing a venue to display the creative representation of their skills and work. The elements that come together through this creative process is the alchemy of the masculine spirit. Whether the medium is wood, metal, glass, or canvas, there is a creative process here that is energized from within. This is an opportunity to acknowledge the depth of the masculine spirit; to witness the art that is at the center of the men in our lives. This is an opportunity to see into the masculine heart and glimpse the life that is at the heart of the men in our community. This show is a process of community. It is a process where men can show their beauty and their fierceness; a place where community can hold and discover, appreciate and question, experience and participate with the dynamic and creative process of the masculine. In whatever form that takes. The Smithers Art Gallery will be displaying artwork from men of diverse backgrounds and age groups, from Prince George to Haida Gwaii, and all skill levels and mediums. We invite you to join in this celebration of art. Exhibition dates: Feb 28 – March 31, 2012 Opening reception: Friday March 2 from 7-9pm. Come along and discover the artists you might not have known existed! All welcome and admission is free. Gallery hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 12pm – 4pm For more information: Michel Kafer, Exhibitions Director .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) 250-877-1244

“Little Bollywood in Terrace”
11/27/2011 - 02/25/2012
The planning committee is very excited about this years theme. This is the first time the society has specifically went with a cultural theme that is based on a film genre and gives praise to the South East Asian Community. One need not be of South East Asian descent to enjoy the guilty pleasure of Bollywood. Bollywood represents the fun and colourful, combining Hindi musical scores that bring smiles to people's faces, and that is the true essence of Bollywood. The planning committee this year wants to focus on bringing the "fun and wonder back to learning and enjoying culture. We hope to see a great turn out from the Terrace community! There will be plenty of cultural entertainment and of course the food is always a highlight.
