Burns Lake Job Fair
The BC Government says it’s trying to find work for employees affected by the explosion and fire at Babine Forest Products in Burns Lake.
The province along with local government and industry are holding a job fair in Burns Lake Friday.
Nechako Lakes Liberal MLA John Rustad says he anticipates that between 250 to 350 jobs will be available between companies like Canfor, West Fraser, Endako Mines, and Imperial Metals.
Rustad says the forestry milling jobs will be a good fit for the workforce coming out of the Babine mill disaster while the mining jobs may be fairly similar.
He says the College of New Caledonia is providing some skills gap assessment to see what qualifications current workers have.
Rustad says there’s also the possibility that CNC could provide some training where necessary.
The job fair is scheduled for Muriel Mould primary school Friday from 9 until 4.
